Carbon Disclosure Project confirms Wieland's B score

  • Significant improvements in Scope 3 emissions reduction
  • Wieland achieves top scores in various categories
  • Leading position in the industry

In its second year of participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project's sustainability ranking, Wieland was able to further strengthen its B rating. Thanks to significant improvements, the company was able to outperform the industry average. Wieland received an A score in the categories of business strategy, financial planning, scenario analysis, emissions reduction initiatives, governance, opportunity disclosure, risk disclosure, and risk management processes.

On its way to "net zero" by 2045, the Wieland Group is constantly facing external audits, such as the complex questions posed by the Carbon Disclosure Project, a non-profit organization founded in London in 2000. The CDP has set itself the task of collecting data and information on CO2 emissions, climate risks and reduction targets as well as reduction strategies from companies around the world in what is now the largest database based on standardized questionnaires. This forms the basis for the evaluation and transparent comparison of environmental data from around 15,000 companies. Dr. Erwin Mayr, CEO of the Wieland Group, comments: "The new CDP rating once again demonstrates our leadership in climate protection within the industry."

Leadership in the industry is constantly growing

Wieland achieved a top score of A in the consideration and assessment of the risks and opportunities associated with climate change for the company, thereby leaving other international companies in the metals and mining industry far behind: the industry average is only a C score. Wieland also holds a top position in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions along the value chain, the so-called Scope 3 emissions, with a score of B. The average in this area is D, the worst score. For Mayr, the next steps are clearly defined: "We will continue to pursue our ambitious sustainability goals by making our climate protection efforts transparent and by submitting them to external rankings and validation processes."
