Safe and natural fuel supply
Safety comes first in gas applications. Our SANCO and WICU tubes are approved by the DVGW for city and natural gas. Copper, a natural material, meets the high demands placed on technical gas supply systems to a particularly high degree.
SANCO and WICU tubes are allowed to be used for town gas and natural gas. They are approved by the DVGW for this area of application and therefore bear the DVGW test mark. If there are special requirements for external corrosion protection of the pipelines, we recommend the use of WICU tubes with the external protective jacket. WICU tubes meet the requirements for external corrosion protection according to DIN 30672 Part 1. Joints must be re-insulated with suitable corrosion protection bandages or appropriately approved shrink tubing. Hard soldering and pressing are approved. Support sleeves are not required for pressing, even in the case of soft ring tubes.
Cold bending of copper tubes for gas installation is permitted. Suitable bending equipment must be used for bending, with which the minimum bending radii according to DIN EN 1057 and DVGW worksheet (appendix to GW 392) are observed. For natural gas installations in Austria, the relevant ÖVGW regulations must be observed.
Propane and butane, which belong to the 3rd gas family, are referred to as liquefied petroleum gas. LPG is used mainly in the home for heating and hot water (propane) and to a lesser extent in industrial applications (butane).
Copper lines have proved particularly suitable for liquid gas installations. They are therefore the preferred choice. For underground and outdoor installation, factory-sheathed WICU tubing is to be used.
The quality certificate for the copper tubes to be used in liquefied gas installations is provided if the tubes are marked by the manufacturer with the quality mark of the Quality Association for Copper Tubes RAL. Wieland SANCO and WICU tubes are marked with this quality mark and may be used for liquefied gas systems in accordance with the existing pressure rating and in the corresponding diameters. If pipes larger than DN 100 are present and the operating pressure exceeds 0.1 bar, an acceptance test certificate 3.1.B in accordance with DIN-EN 10204 must also be requested at the time of ordering. WICU pipes with web jackets may be used for liquid gas pipes under plaster or buried.
For liquid gas installations in Austria, the relevant ÖVGW regulations must be observed.
For the construction and operation of heating oil systems, copper tubes for EL heating oil are approved in accordance with DIN 4755 TRÖI. Only tubes in accordance with DIN EN 1057 in strength grades R 220 and R250 with RAL quality mark may be used. SANCO and WICU tubes meet these requirements. Heating oil lines must always be hard soldered, soft soldering is not permitted. Capillary solder fittings and compression fittings to DIN EN 1254 may be used without further proof of suitability. A building authority approval must be available for press fittings
