Wieland hosts Senator Dick Durbin at its East Alton manufacturing facility

 

On November 3rd, Wieland, an industry leader in manufacturing and converting copper and copper alloys, hosted U.S. Senator Dick Durbin at its East Alton, Illinois facility. Greg Keown, President of Wieland Rolled Products North America gave Sen. Durbin a tour while explaining the company's long history in Illinois. The facility was built shortly after Franklin W. Olin founded the Equitable Powder Company at that location in July 1892.

 

During the tour, Sen. Durbin saw first-hand how Wieland manufactures copper and copper alloy products that play a crucial role in the American manufacturing supply chain. Sen. Durbin watched as the copper-based metals were cast and rolled to supply critical end markets such as small arms munitions supplied to the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant and the materials supplied to the U.S. Mint for coins.

 

After visiting the facility, Sen. Durbin shared remarks with guests of the event on the importance of investing in advanced manufacturing within Illinois and mentioned the investments that the Federal Government is making to revitalize American infrastructure to support businesses nationwide.
